Understanding College Tuition Points

Everything you need to know about how College Tuition Points work, how they are redeemed, and what they mean for your organization and recipients.

What Are College Tuition Points?

College Tuition Points are a benefit distributed by organizations — nonprofits, employers, and marketers — to their supporters, employees, or prospects. Each point converts to $1 in potential tuition savings when redeemed at a participating college or university.

Points Are NOT

  • NOT cash or a cash equivalent
  • NOT a check or monetary payment
  • NOT a scholarship or grant
  • NOT guaranteed tuition savings

Points ARE

  • A high-perceived-value educational benefit
  • Redeemable at 425+ participating colleges and universities
  • Subject to each institution's program terms and redemption limits
  • Distributed by organizations to eligible recipients

How Redemption Works

01

Recipient Receives Points

The recipient — a donor, employee, or prospect — receives their College Tuition Points from the distributing organization as part of a program or campaign.

02

Recipient Selects a Participating Institution

The recipient reviews the network of 425+ participating colleges and universities and selects the institution where they wish to apply their points.

03

Points Are Applied to Tuition

The recipient works with the participating institution to apply their College Tuition Points toward tuition costs, subject to the institution's program terms and redemption limits.

04

Potential Tuition Savings Are Realized

Each point converts to $1 in potential tuition savings, subject to the participating institution's program terms, redemption limits, and eligibility requirements.

The Participating Institution Network

College Tuition Points are redeemable at a network of 425+ participating colleges and universities. The network includes a broad range of institution types — community colleges, four-year universities, graduate programs, and professional schools — giving recipients meaningful flexibility in how they apply their points.

The specific institutions available and their individual program terms, redemption limits, and eligibility requirements vary. Recipients should review the participating institution list and each institution's program terms before planning to redeem points.
